THE BAJA CALIFORNIA WINE & FOOD SCENE
I moved to Baja California, from very hip Oakland in 1985. At that time Ensenada was already famous for seafood dining. But a variety of cuisines was lacking for a boy who grew up in the culinary capital of the west coast – The San Francisco Bay Area. Now, 26 years later, Ensenada and Tijuana restaurants are recognized by gourmets as world class cuisines. International influences have changed dramatically the way traditional Mexican food is prepared. Sushi, soufflés and crepes are now as common as tacos. The wine country, Valle de Guadalupe Ensenada now has 80 high end wineries. They win gold in competition against French and California wines. On this website we will “hip you” to the best places to dine and wine. Including the wine we call Tequila.
